Hail Ohio!

This morning we're rolling out to the state that's Hi in the Middle and Round on both ends! That's right, Hail OHIO!

We're collecting thoughts, stories and video contributions to our trek around the US at the Facebook group "What Makes Your State Great?". Come on over and join the discussion!

Collecting my facts on the states usually lands me over at 50states.com. However youtube has been a strong source for videos. Hope everyone enjoys our stop today.

For now..

Hail OHIO!
"Hang On Sloopy" is the official state rock song.

Thomas A. Edison from Milan developed the incandescent light bulb, phonograph, and early motion picture camera.

John Mercer Langston is believed to have been the first African American elected to public office. He was elected clerk of Brownhelm in 1854.

One of the great things to see in Ohio is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The nominees for 2012 are:

Beastie Boys
The Cure
Eric B. & Rakim
Guns 'n Roses
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Freddie King
Laura Nyro
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rufus with Chaka Khan
The Small Faces/The Faces
The Spinners
Donna Summer

Ohio's original inhabitants were:
The Erie tribe
The Kickapoo tribe
The Shawnee tribe

I found a great video on the Native American's of Ohio.

Sending love and protection to the great state of Ohio.

Namaste & Blessed Be

Wow, it's going to be tough to choose an inductee for the RnRHoF! Those are all awesome nominees. I sure wouldn't want to be the person who had to choose between The Cure and Chaka Khan LOL!
